André Opperman

OUR STORY......SO FAR

In 1991, André Opperman opened his optometry practice and with it he had a vision of providing quality eye care to those who entered his practice.

As with all “start up” businesses a lot of hard work and dedication went into keeping the practice going and bringing it to what it is today. Consulting, eye tests and cut and fit of spectacle lenses were all done by André.  The hard work never broke his stride.

Unfortunately in 1993 André suffered a serious motorbike accident which left him wheelchair bound, paralyzed from the chest down which forced him to quit running the practice…so he started “rolling“.

Due to the setup of the equipment André could not perform the eye tests himself and therefore had to add an additional optometrist to his team. He loved his patients and could now invest more quality time and interest in every patient that walked through the door. I am sure there are many patients out there who could testify to the heartfelt and sincere attitude that Andre had.
As the last optometrist to join Andre’s team, I had the privilege of working with André since 2015. With many years of experience he had much wisdom to share. He unfortunately passed away in 2021.

It was an honor to have had him as a mentor, work colleague and friend. I’ve seen his passion, care and enjoyed his humor.

He was quite a giant in Optometry and left some gigantic shoes to fill. Me, by wearing a size 6 shoe will not even try. But I will strive to leave a different footprint in the community of Worcester. I will string together all the wonderful pearls of wisdom I’ve collected and will continue to provide quality eye care with passion and compassion.

To all existing and new patients, I am sure we can build on the legacy that was left behind. I am looking forward to seeing you all.
